International Mission
Our Mission: Sharing the love of Jesus Christ through aviation and technology so that isolated people may be physically and spiritually transformed.
MAF is a not-for-profit team of aviation professionals providing air transport in places of deepest human need - remote places where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline. For almost 60 years, MAF has flown over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts to bring thousands of men, women and children medical care, emergency relief, long-term development and Christian hope.
Fiona Stevenson - Serving with MAF in Cairns Australia
The Regional Office of MAF International Asia Pacific is in Cairns, Australia. Strategically located in the north of Australia to be geographically close to operations in Arnhem Land, Papua New Guinea (PNG), East Timor and Cambodia as well as to our engineering base at Mareeba, 70 kilometres inland.
The Cairns staff comprises of the Regional Director/Vice president of Asia Pacific and senior staff including the Regional Operations Manager, Aviation Resources Division Manager, Executive Officer and Projects Manager; together with Human Resources, Finance and Information Technology Departments, working in leadership, co-ordination and administrative roles.
It has been my fortune growing up in a Christian family, and I came naturally to faith of my own as a child. After a degree in theology from Durham University, I trained as a chartered accountant with KPMG. I then worked as a accountant in business for nearly 20 years in north-east England.
My international outlook grew during that time through involvement
with guiding and, more recently, Rotary. My horizons were expanded further through unusual 'holidays', often with a mission link.
God brought all these strands together by calling me to work for Him in MAF. I am now Regional Finance Manager for the Asia Pacific Region. Based in Cairns, Australia, I also travel to remote areas of the Northern Territory and Papua New Guinea applying my previous skills and experience to new challenges.
As I serve in Australia, I am looking for people to join my team of Supporters who will pray, or give, or both. Could you be one of them? Email
