Amigos
Amigos is a regular meeting place for international students and friends. If you have come to Durham from another country you are welcome to come to Amigos, whether you are in Durham as a student or research scholar, or the partner of a student.
When?
Every Wednesday evening from 8pm to 10pm during vacations as well as term time.
Where?
In the upstairs hall of St Nic’s church.
What happens?
We serve free tea (many varieties), coffee, hot chocolate and snacks.
‘Amigos’ is the Spanish word for ‘friends’. Amigos is about making friends – a chance to relax and meet people informally.
If you join our email list you can find out about the weekly programme. We also arrange activities on other days such as Saturday outings to interesting places, especially during the summer, and occasional short holidays away.
Amigos is run by a team of people from St Nicholas church but you do not have to be a Christian or a religious believer to come to Amigos. You can practise English if you want to and there is plenty of opportunity to learn about other cultures.
