Youth and children
St. Nic’s welcomes children and young people into the church. We have a strong Sunday-based ministry which is supported by a range of activities and groups catering for all ages from 0 to 18 years.
The 9.15am service on a Sunday includes groups for youth and children.
The first 20 minutes of this service (whilst the children are in) is characterised by an all-age focused approach to worship. The whole flavour of the service is designed to engage with children as well as adults, with use of creative media, technology, puppets, drama etc. We want our children to enjoy the church experience and worship!
After the first 20 minutes there are various age related groups. Our groups meet either in the Town Hall (next to the Church) or in our Youth Centre. The exception to this is the 14-18 year old group (ROCK) who currently have a programme of sometimes being part of the 9.15 am service and sometimes meeting together as a group There are also midweek (age specific) groups for the young people aged 7 and above. A time to relax with people, play games and do other activities.
See more about the events we have for children (under 10s) and youth (10s and over). See events this week for specific dates and times.
All our groups work within social service guidelines for adult:child ratios and our volunteers are regulated through the Diocesan Child Protection Scheme.
